Strengthen cooperation with New Zealand to develop vocational education and training.

On the morning of July 20, 2020, in Hanoi DVET held a Signing Ceremony of a Cooperation Agreement in vocational education and training and  skills developmennt DVET and NewZealand G20 Know How. Attending the signing ceremony, there were Mr. Truong Anh Dung, DVET, representatives of departments and units of the DVET. On the New Zealand, there were Ms. Wendy Matthews, Ambassador New Zealand and some officials of the New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam; representatives of a number of news agencies.



Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Truong Anh Dung, DVET said that for many years, the cooperation between the Governments of Vietnam and New Zealand has been strengthened in many fields. In the coming time, the Governments of the two countries will soon promote and upgrade the comprehensive cooperation relationship to the strategic cooperation relationship. After recent visits by the Governments of the two countries, the Government of New Zealand has carried out a number of activities to support Vietnam in the field of vocational education and skill development such as sharing experience in implementing the Nation Qualification Framework; support research activities on the national qualification framework in New Zealand; awarding short-term English study scholarships ...

In March 2017, DVET visited and worked in New Zealand on vocational education and training. Although New Zealand is a country with a small population size, the social economy is very developed with world-leading indicators of transparency, anti-corruption, innovation, and future education index. ... New Zealand's vocational education and training system is very flexible and responds to the labor market with close cohesion between vocational education and training institutions and enterprises. New Zealands experience in vocational education and training development and occupational skills is worth studying for Vietnam and applying appropriate development of Vietnam's vocational education system. Director General Truong Anh Dung highly appreciated and thanked Ambassador Wendy Matthews for the close cooperation for the two sides to sign Signing Ceremony of a Cooperation Agreement. With the success in COVID-19 disease prevention of the two countries, this is a good opportunity for the two sides to strengthen and concretize the relationship of vocational education and training in the future.



New Zealand with a strong development of the vocational education and training system with close association with businesses provides the necessary skills for employees to help them succeed in the future. The New Zealand Government always wants to share with New Zealand the challenges and experiences in vocational education and training development of Vietnam, thereby helping Vietnam develop vocational education and training and formulate skilled human resources power. At the same time, I would like to learn about the experiences of vocational education development of the Government of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese side proposed New Zealand to cooperate, support Vietnam with some contents on vocational education in the coming time such as the official development assistance program; exchanging support to formulate policies on vocational education; support fostering managerial staff, vocational educators; supporting the cooperation between vocational training institutions in Vietnam and vocational training institutions in New Zealand in both width and depth, in addition to well implementing the cooperation agreement have a specific plan, evaluate to draw experience for each deployment stage to have an appropriate plan for the next stage.
