Workshop of the VET Sector Development Partners' Network

On the morning of July 15, 2020, in Hanoi, DVET held Workshop of the VET Sector Development Partners' Network in Vietnam. Attending and chairing the Workshop were Mr. Do Nang Khanh, Deputy Director General of DVET; Mr. Sebastian Paust, Counselor in charge of development, Embassy of Germany; Mr. Duong Duc Lan, President of Vietnam Association of Vocational Education and Social Work Profession; representatives of some departments and units of DVET; Mr. Jurgen Hartwig, GIZ Vietnam Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam, Ms. Valentina Barcucci, Deputy Director of ILO Vietnam; representatives of the United Nations, UNESCO, JICA, KOIKA, Francophone Community, Aus4Skills; representatives of the Embassy of Australia, New Zealand, the Russian Federation, Switzerland, Canada, Denmark, the Taipei Economic Office, Thailand, Singapore, and the Center for Development and Integration; representatives of a number of news agencies.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Do Nang Khanh, Deputy General Director of DVET said that the Conference is an annual forum to share and update information on educational development priorities and orientations. The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected labor, businesses and economies on a national and global scale, including Vietnam. In the field of vocational education and training, the COVID-19 epidemic has had a great impact on the recruitment, training and employment of teachers of vocational education and training institutions.

In addition, vocational education in recent years and the coming years is affected by globalization and the 4th industrial revolution. Therefore, the present and future of Vietnamese vocational education and training the development of men should be placed in the context of globalization, the 4th industrial revolution and the unpredictable and unpredictable developments of natural disasters and global epidemics. DVET always attaches importance to strengthening the coordination of development partners to gain experiences and resources for vocational education development. Hopefully the conference today will have many ideas of interest and cooperation to contribute to the development of Vietnam's vocational education and training in the coming period.

Besides, Mr. Sebastian Paust, Counselor in charge of development, Embassy of Germany said that the EVFTA agreement will open many opportunities for Vietnam's economic development but also create many challenges that require Vietnam to record. more flexible in improving institutions and policies with flexibility, strengthening the economy with the improvement of labor quality. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has affected every aspect of the national economy. Vietnam is one of the affected countries, so it is necessary to adapt to the COVID-19 epidemic, promote the development of the digital economy and digital vocational education. The cohesion of schools, businesses and the state is a right direction in the new situation. Strategies for vocational education development in the coming period should pay attention to developing human resources to meet business needs,developing the contingent of teachers, greening vocational education and training and adapting to the 4th industrial revolution.

At the seminar, the delegates listened to the reports from experts, managers in the country and international organizations, specifically: Orientation of development of Vietnam's vocational education in the coming time; the process of developing a vocational education development strategy and a plan for vocational education institution network; the impact of COVID-19 on the labor market; Vocational education activities adapted to the impact of COVID-19.

The seminar spent a lot of time to share ideas on vocational education development in the future. The idea that the development of vocational education development strategy for the development of vocational education today is facilitated by the unification of the vocational education system, for the international economy to be able to receive Experiences of vocational education and training development of countries, including advanced vocational education models of the Federal Republic of Germany. In Vietnam today, the weakest stage is probably the loose cooperation between vocational education training institutions and enterprises. Meanwhile, in the Federal Republic of Germany, businesses are always willing to train and graduates will work at the business, with a commitment of business benefits to participating in vocational education and training activities.

Speaking at the conclusion of the Workshop, Mr. Do Nang Khanh, Deputy Director General of DVET, noted at the Conference of delegates, domestic and international partners. In the coming time, DVET will have specific policies and orientations for international cooperation in vocational education, contributing to improving the quality of training, improving the quality of human resources to serve the needs.
