“Singapore has grown many times over us, why are 45-50% of their children still taking vocational education and training?”
The question was raised by the Director General of DVET, Truong Anh Dung, to emphasize the development potential of the vocational education and training institutions system. On July 1, DVET had a meeting with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Ninh Province and vocational education and training institutions to remove problems and difficulties in vocational education and training in the area. Report on vocational education and training activities in 2019 and the first 6 months of 2020, besides achievements, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Ninh Province also recognizes the inadequate structure of enrollment and vocational training when it is still mainly elementary level and less than 3 months. The annual average recruitment rate for college and secondary schools is only 12-15%. Directorate of Vocational Education and Training works with the Association of Colleges and Economic - Technical Vocational Colleges.
On the morning of July 2, 2020, in Hanoi, DVET worked with the Association of Colleges, Economic-Technical Intermediate School on vocational education. Attending the meeting were Mr. Truong Anh Dung, Director General of  DVET ; representatives of some departments and units of DVET. On the side of the Association were Mr. Tran Cong Chanh, Chairman of the Association and members of the Association Standing Committee. 138 profiles for selection and commendation of outstanding and excellent vocational education and training institutions and students of 2020
On July 1, 2020, Directorate of Vocational Education and Trainig (DVET) held a meeting to select students and students of excellent and typical vocational education institutions of the year 2020. Mr. Do Nang Khanh, Deputy Director General - Chairman of the Council and Ms. Tran Minh Huyen, Director of Department of Student Affairs - Vice Chairman of the Council chair the meeting. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Ministry Office, the Department of Continuing Training, DVET Office and the Vietnam Student Association Standing Committee.
Strengthening Vietnam-Korea linkage and cooperation in TVET
In the morning of June 30, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam in cooperation with the Korean Embassy in Vietnam held the Meeting themed "Meeting with Korea 2020" with the aim of socio-economic recovery and development in a normal status after COVID-19. Attending the meeting includes Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Korean Ambassador Park Noh-wan; President of Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in Southeast Asia and Oceania, Director General of KOTRA Hanoi Kim Ki Joon; President of the Korean Business Association (KORCHAM) in Vietnam Kim Han-Yong and representatives of many Korean businesses, nearly 1,000 participants, both national and international delegates.
Tasks of planning vocational education and training institutions network
The Prime Minister has just approved the task of making a plan for vocational education and training institution networks in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
Advisory, recruitment activities for students
DVET has coordinated with Tuoi Tre Newspaper, the Ministry of Education and Training to organize a program of advisory and recruitment for 2020. The advisory and recruitment program is held in 17 provinces and cities under the Central Government with the companion of VinGroup. In addition, DVET has coordinated with Thanh Nien Newspaper, Departments of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of provinces and cities directly under the Central Government to organize a number of advisory and recruitment programs for vocational education and training recruitment. This has diversified and enriched enrollment counseling, career guidance in 2020,contribute to promoting and increasing the spread and efficiency of recruitment in the vocational education and training system. Especially, on 28/6/2020, there have been many advisory and recruitment programs in Hanoi, Hai Phong and Can Tho cities.
Vocational Education and Training: Adapting to Fourth Industry Revolution.
On June 25, 2020, in Hanoi, Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) cooperated with Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET), the World Bank (WB), and the Korea Bank (KEXIMBANK) to held Online Workshop on the mid-term report of the Vocational Education and Training Project: Adapting to the Fourth Industry Revolution. Student recruitment festival in 2020
On the morning of June 21, in Ho Chi Minh City, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, the Ministry of Education and Training, Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) together with the companion of Vingroup held the opening ceremony of student recruitment festival in 2020. Orientation for developing programs and training materials on national vocational skills assessment
