Promoting cooperation in the field of vocational education between Vietnam and the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam

On March 23, 2022, Dr. Pham Vu Quoc Binh, Deputy Director General of Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) and representatives of leaders of departments and units: Office, Department of Quality Accreditation of Vocational Education, Department of Vocational Skills, Formal Training Department had a meeting with Mr. Jesus Lavina, Deputy Head of Development Cooperation Department of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam. The working session focused on exchanging plans for implementing cooperation activities in the field of vocational education between DVET and the EU Delegation to Vietnam.





At the meeting, Mr. Jesus Lavina presented the approved activities in the EU's Financial Support Framework for Socio-Economic Development of Vietnam 2022-2027, in which the field of vocational education is one of the new topics selected by the EU on the basis of the cooperation proposal of the General Department in 2021. The total estimated budget for vocational education is more than 20 million Euros, focusing on priority cooperation contents and activities such as: greening vocational education, digital transformation, policy dialogue, policy and institutional reform, business engagement, gender issues and covered in vocational education, training and retraining to improve skills for workers moving....

Talking at the meeting, Deputy Director General Pham Vu Quoc Binh affirmed that the priority cooperation activities of the EU Delegation are consistent with the priorities that the General Department is focusing on implementing such as: implementing transformation, upgrading high digital skills for the workforce, students to adapt well to the 4.0 technology revolution; develop vocational education towards greening vocational education and sustainable development; training, retraining and improving human resource skills; formulating policies and institutions; training for disadvantaged workers, gender equality, etc. In addition, the Deputy Director General also asked the EU Delegation to support the transfer of training programs in which the EU has strengths, building and developing skills councils. industry, mutual recognition of training qualifications for labor mobility, building models of high-quality schools and promoting cooperation with other development partners operating in Vietnam.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to develop specific contents and forms of cooperation to soon implement activities in 2023.
