Vietnam promotes cooperation in the field of vocational education with Singapore

On October 17, at the Presidential Palace, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Direcatorate of Vocational Education and Training (Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs) of Vietnam and the Singapore Institute of Technical Education. (ITE) under the witness of the President of Singapore and the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.



Within the framework of the MOU, the two sides will promote cooperation in the following areas: Improving leadership capacity in the field of TVET; develop TVET infrastructure; cooperate in building 03 national centers for high quality vocational training and practice according to the model of ITE Singapore; capacity development of teachers and VET staff; promote capacity development programs for students; academic development of TVET; internship programs for students in Singapore and Vietnam; ensuring the quality of vocational education; certificates and diplomas in TVET; enhance the image of TVET and share models and best practices in skills development.

Until now, official cooperation in vocational education between Vietnam and Singapore has been limited, mainly focusing on sharing experiences and organizing English proficiency training courses in China. Vietnam - Singapore Cooperation Center and participate in delegations within the framework of ASEAN and bilateral cooperation. Recently, the General Department of Vocational Education and Training has promoted cooperation with major agencies and TVET institutes of Singapore, such as Singapore Polytechnic College (SP) in the field of human resource training for 4.0 and Institute of Technical Education (ITE). ITE is a post-secondary institution established in 1992. It is a training facility for vocational and technical education for post-secondary students, adults and corporate learners and building national skill standards. 

The Memorandum of Understanding marks the official cooperation between the two sides with specific areas to be identified. In the immediate future, the two sides will focus on promoting cooperation in the field of training, capacity building for managers and leaders of TVET institutions, human resource training to meet 4.0 and especially sharing. share ITE's experience and support in building high-quality vocational training and practice centers following the very successful model of "One ITE system, three colleges" in Singapore. These cooperation and support activities will actively support DVET in the implementation of the Vocational Education Development Strategy for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045, especially the target. to build and invest in the project of the National Center for High-Quality Vocational Training and Practice in the 3 North, Central.

 On the sidelines of the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony, ITE will have a bilateral meeting with the General Department of Vocational Education and Training to discuss the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding after signing and visiting the Vocational College of Technology and Technology. in Dong Anh, Hanoi to learn and share experiences in establishing a national center for high-quality vocational training and practice.
