On October 10, the opening ceremony of the 7th National DIY Training Equipment Contest, 2022 took place in Vung Tau. This year's contest has the participation of representatives from 57 provinces and centrally-run cities with 381 devices from 191 vocational education institutions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Tan Dung affirmed that human resource development, especially high-quality human resources, is one of the three strategic breakthroughs and orientations for building an open and flexible VET system, which focuses on retraining and regular training of the workforce, forming a skilled workforce, creating a basis for the implementation of VET innovation and development in the coming period.

To meet the above requirements, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the Vocational Education Development Strategy for the period 2021-2030 and a vision to 2045 to support resources for the vocational education sector.

However, according to the Deputy Minister, state investment is not enough. At present, there are still some vocational education institutions with a low number of practice hours, the proportion of pupils and students on a training device is still high, affecting negatively to the training of teachers and practicing of learners. Therefore, self-research and production of training equipment becomes an important task of vocational education institutions and if we do this well, we will provide a significant amount of equipment every year which is not only used in their own schools but also can be provided to many other vocational educational institutions, contributing to reducing the pressure of budget investment for vocational education.

In fact, assessment and inspection reports on vocational training activities and reviews on 6 national DIY training equipment contests show great benefits, effectiveness and practical significance of the self-production of training equipment by vocational education institutions. Many self-made devices have met the requirements of knowledge and skills of the training program and are used to the maximum in the teaching process of schools.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that MOLISA always wishes that through the contests, equipment with pedagogical, scientific, technical and creative qualities, high applicability will be selected to put into use nationwide.

At the same time, the General Department of Vocational Education and Training also needs to develop an appropriate mechanism to create more favorable conditions for more effective equipment training. For example, reserving a certain part of the budget for the production; recognizing high prize winners of the national self-made training equipment contests by using their products in vocational education institutions; encouraging the campaigns of researching, creating, self-designing and manufacturing training equipment to become a regular work in the operation of vocational education institutions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Khanh, Director of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province affirmed that, due to its location in the southern key economic region, the province is continuing to develop strongly develop four economic pillars: industry, seaport, tourism and hi-tech agriculture.
