Modernizing vocational schools through projects of the French Government

On 10/5, the Agency French Development (AFD) works with LILAMA 2 Technical and Technology College organized the inauguration of the E-Building environmentally-friendly building funded by the French Government and the event with the theme “Modernizing vocational schools in Vietnam: the main solution to help young people integrate into jobs”.

On 10/5, the Agency French Development (AFD) works with LILAMA 2 Technical and Technology College organized the inauguration of the E-Building environmentally-friendly building funded by the French Government and the event with the theme “Modernizing vocational schools in Vietnam: the main solution to help young people integrate into jobs”. Attending the event were Vincent FLOREANI, Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Nguyen Hong Minh, Director General of the Directorate of Vocational; Education and Training (DVET); Mr. Fabrice Richy, Director of the Agency French Development in Vietnam and numerous representatives of the Ministry of Planning and Investment; Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; ODA - funded vocational eduction and training project management unit under DVET; German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ), French businesses and leaders, the students of the school.

The project "Investment and development of high quality vocational schools" funded by the French Government 25 million EURO, is a project built to train highly qualified technical workers for industrialization and modernizing the country.
The project consists of 6 component projects: Component 1 project (managed by Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and Directorate of Vocational Education and Training as Investor) and 5 component projects at schools: LILAMA 2 Technical and Technology College, Viet Xo Electrical and Construction College, Agricultural Mechanical College, Dung Quat Technical College and Nghi Son Vocational College.

The project is invested synchronously from programs, textbooks and equipment to improve the human resource capacity of schools. In particular, the free transfer training programs from France are adjusted to suit the context of Vietnam for five areas of investment which have been recognized by the French authorities. In addition, within the framework of AFD's loan, the project has built an environmentally friendly building at the LILAMA 2 Technical and Technology College, especially in terms of energy saving and limiting emission carbon emissions.

At the event, the Consul General of France and the Director of AFD in Vietnam highlighted the meaning of the support of the French Government for important areas of high quality human resource training for Vietnam. The Director General Nguyen Hong Minh expressed his thanks and acknowledged the French Government 's sponsorship as well as the results of the project. Thanks to the investment of the project, the schools have upgraded their facilities and equipment and developed training programs and textbooks at the international level and improved the capacity of officials and teachers to meeting the requirements of education renovation, serving the industrial development in the direction of modernization, meeting the trend of international integration and ensuring the competitiveness of our country's human resources; I hope that in the future, AFD donor will continue to accompany in developing the field of vocational education, the Director General also assigns the school to effectively use the building and the project results for lifting high quality training of the school.
