U.S. President Donald Trump:

"Germany and the United States have incredible opportunity to deepen our partnership as we continue to develop our strong workforce in both of our countries."

U.S. President Donald Trump:

"For decades, Germany has been a model for highly successful apprenticeships, that's a name I like 'apprentice', apprenticeship programmes. As a result, Germany's youth and unemployment rate is much lower than many of the other countries, especially the EU countries. I want to welcome collaboration between our two countries."

U.S. President Donald Trump:

"The German apprenticeship model is on of the proven programmes to developing a highly skilled workforce. Germany has been amazing at this. And I'm glad that the leaders of so many companies represented here today have recently launched successful programmes right here in the United States. And we need that because we're training people as the jobs are pouring back in, and they are coming back in big league."

U.S. President Donald Trump:

"I believe that both countries will be stronger if we continue to deepen our bilateral cooperation on vocational training as we build off the best ideas, create the greatest opportunity for growth and improve the lives of so many workers."

Angela Merkel, Chancellor Germany:

"Thank you, Mr. President. I am happy that we are here today and have the opportunity to discuss the training of young people. On the German side, we brought with us delegates of (inaudible) companies and their training representatives. And we believe that our model, together with the skills here in the United States, can be a good contribution."

Jared Kushner, Donald Trump advisor:

"We found that a lot of the private sector companies have done a great job trying to train the workforce for the job that they need, the jobs for the future. And in a lot of cases in America we are finding that we don't have enough qualified applicants for the jobs that we have available, so in working with the private sector, and Ginnie's been a great leader in that the White House has been trying to get behind a lot of these programmes that can help make sure we're training the American people for the jobs that we're hopefully going to be producing in the future."

Ivanka Trump, first daughter:

"I applaud my father's commitment to creating millions of jobs and specifically making sure that all Americans have the skills required and necessary to both fill the jobs of today and of the future. As many of realize ingenuity, creativity often comes from the determination of the private sector. So it's great to have such great private sector leaders here."

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence:

"I can assure you that the passion that you see at this table today by the President is authentic and at his direction we're going to work as an administration to strengthen the opportunities from secondary education on forward."
