Enhancing occupational skills

(Labor & Social newspaper) On 11/12, in Da Nang city, General Directorate of Vocational Training (Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs) held a weekly meeting on implementation of the project “Skills Enhancement” across the country.

The project “Skills Enhancement” has been implemented in 5 years (2011-2015), received a funding of 70 million USD from ADB, in which General Directorate of Vocational Training is the investor of 50 million USD fund as part of 2652-VIET loan of ADF loans, providing fund to 15 public schools.
The project’s objective is to reduce skill deficiency in some primary occupations for 15 schools across the country and improve the practical training skill for teachers through investment in facilities, practice rooms, laboratories, workshops…with the aim to enhance the quality, gradually approach regional and global training standard, be able to generate income from business activities.
In Da Nang, Da Nang vocational college received investment for 3 occupations, including automobile technology (international level), mechatronics and industrial electrical installation and control (regional level), with total investment worth 3,270,200 USD. On the same day 11/12, General Directorate of Vocational Training in coordination with Da Nang Vocational College held national occupational skill assessment in Dang Nang on automobile technology level 2/5.
50 candidates are former students, auto repair technicians at vocational training institutions and enterprises operating in Da Nang and contestants from other provinces also participated in the event.
Participation in the assessment requires the contestants need to have national skills certificate level 1 or have at least one of following certificates: Vocational primary certificate, vocational certificate and have at least 2 years working in the same occupation  since obtaining skill certificate level 1 or have professional primary certificate, professional secondary certificate in the occupation alike the registered occupation…
After the assessment, the candidate will be conferred national skills certificate level 2/5, in Automobile technology.
