On the morning of April 5, in Hanoi, the Vietnam - Cambodia Labor Ministers Meeting was held, aiming to promote cooperation in the field of labor and vocational training between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The meeting is an occasion to implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam (MOLISA) and the Cambodian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training on cooperation in the labor field in the period of 2022 - 2027.

Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung and Cambodian Minister of Labor and Vocational Training Ith Samheng co-chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET), other Departments, the Institute and relevant units of the two ministries, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Hanoi.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung affirmed that cooperation between the MOLISA and the Cambodian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training continued the focus and has achieved many progressive results.

"Vietnam and Cambodia are two close neighboring countries, having a longstanding and traditional relationship. The people of the two countries often share, support and help each other in all circumstances.
After more than 55 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, although the situation in the world and the region has experienced both favorable and challenging changes, the two countries have always worked towards and well implemented the relationship. The system of "good neighbor, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability", emphasized Minister Dao Ngoc Dung.
Over the past time, the two ministries have strengthened the management of Cambodian labor in Vietnam, as well as Vietnamese labor in Cambodia, contributing to ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of workers of the two countries, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic is complicated.
In the field of vocational education and training, Vietnam and Cambodia have also promoted cooperation and mutual support in both bilateral and multilateral cooperation with many joint projects within ASEAN frameworks...

The conference was organized to promote cooperation in labor and vocational training between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Supporting students’ study and research through scholarships at vocational schools under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam is also focused and promoted, through the Vietnam - Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation, culture, science and technology. He cited, Thai Nguyen College every year grants scholarships to about 35 Cambodian students to study in Vietnam.
Minister Dao Ngoc Dung emphasized the importance of early implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on labor cooperation between the two ministries for the period 2022-2027 in the context of complicated world developments, requiring the two ministries to must make efforts to come up with new, innovative and breakthrough development orientations, laws and policies in order to adapt to the new situation and contribute to the economic and social stability of the two countries.

The Minister believed that the unification of the Plan to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on labor cooperation for the period 2022-2027 would further expand and deepen the cooperation relationship between the two ministries in the field of labor and vocational training, thereby, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
At the meeting, Cambodian Minister of Labor and Vocational Training Ith Samheng expressed his agreement to develop a 5-year Action Plan (2023-2027) to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on labor cooperation for the period 2022-2027 to exchange more information, data, research, expertise on labor, employment and vocational training; strengthening the management of migrant workers in the regions of both countries; create favorable conditions for the issuance of legal documents as required by laws and regulations.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries will bring practical benefits to the two peoples.
Minister Ith Samheng suggested the two parties focus on preventing and combating the recruitment and use of illegal workers, and preventing labor exploitation and human trafficking.
Focus on creating jobs, improving the welfare of people and workers. Efforts should be made to solve labor market problems, set out a national policy framework on health equity funds, and social security regimes in health care and employment.
