Directorate of Vocational Education and Training and GIZ strengthen cooperation in vocational education and training

On the afternoon of September 14 in Hanoi, Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) and GIZ signed a Memorandum of cooperation with the Germany Project Evaluation Delegation on vocational education and training development. Attending the signing ceremony, there were Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Director General of DVET and some leaders of other departments and units. On the side of GIZ, there were Mr. Jurgen Hartwig - Director of the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam, Ms. Sabine Schmid, Leader of Monitoring and Evaluation and project assistants.

Attending the signing ceremony, there were Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Director General of DVET and some leaders of other departments and units. On the side of GIZ, there were Mr. Jurgen Hartwig - Director of the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam, Ms. Sabine Schmid, Leader of Monitoring and Evaluation and project assistants.


At the meeting, Ms. Sabine Schmid presented a summary of the evaluation of the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam which will be 3 years (from September 20 to August 20, 2023 ) and some contents discussed at the meeting between the DVET and GIZ took place 2 days ago in Hanoi. According, the GIZ evaluation team has implemented the evaluation in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Hanoi with the following contents: Integrating sustainability factors and funding for systematic communication of results and impacts achieved in the current technical cooperation solutions “Innovating Vietnamese vocational training”; Support the orientation of the vocational education system in Vietnam to digital transformation (Industry 4.0); Support training and retraining to improve the quality of vocational education related to integration. The results of the evaluation of  the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam and the contents discussed at the meeting between the DVET and GIZ will help GIZ develop a topic propose the cooperation program on Vocational Education in Vietnam in the next period to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development for comments and approval.


Speaking at the signing ceremony, Director General Nguyen Hong Minh appreciated and basically agreed with the content exchanged and proposed between DVET and GIZ two days ago. DVET suggested that, through the Project's activities in the next phase, the Germany will cooperate to support Vietnam with some contents on the development of the vocational education system in Vietnam such as: Completing the mechanism policy on vocational education which involves considering revision of the Law on Vocational Education; formulating a strategy for Vietnam’s vocational education development in the period after 2020; Systematically implement the Skill Councils; Studying mechanisms and policies to attract businesses to participate in vocational education and effective cooperation between schools and enterprises.
